Camerawork

  1) Pick  three  camera  shots  from the Doctor Who scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience. Fast-pan- When the TARDIS is activated. Track dolly- When examining the TARDIs Close shot- The debut of the doctor 2) Pick  one  camera  angle  that is used in the scene and explain the effect it has on the audience.  Close up-shot are used quite often in the scenes to show some sort of reaction from the characters (Happiness, Sadness, etc)  3) Pick one aspect of  mise-en-scene  from the scene and explain what connotations are being communicated to the audience.

Mise-en-scene Task

 Mise-en-scene Task 1) Choose  THREE  aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for  each  about the  denotation  and  connotation  and what is communicated to the audience. Lighting:  A common theme of lighting is the numerous flickering in different scenes. Example 1: The start of the episode as the hallway lights flicker. The lights have been darkened a lot in this since its taken at night and has the creepy vibe for the audience to tense the mood. Example 2: The time of day and the house hardly has any lights. Props: There are a decent amount of props in this like the board games and food props like the pizza and the bikes the kids were riding on. Setting: The setting is taken at night in a quiet woodland with a few houses in sight and tall black dead trees. Paragraph:

Denotation and connotation - WaterAid

  Create a  new  blogpost in your GCSE Media blog called ' Denotation and connotation '. 1) Write an analysis of the  WaterAid advert above  using denotation, connotation and analysis. What can you see? What are the deeper meanings in the advert? What does the advert communicate to the audience? How might an audience react after seeing the advert? Denotations: A young boy standing looking sad close to the camera in a village(Symbolic Code). The brand "wateraid"(Symbolic Code) Slogan(Written Code) Colours; Blue and White, representing water.(Symbolic Code) Connotations: The image shows a likely upset boy staring at the fourth wall(camera)this can make the audience rather emotionally and make us engage in helping. The slogan means that that we need to help to save them and avoid death from illness or diseases. 2) Now choose your  own choice of advert  from Google images.
